ALS Training Academy validated by the Institute of Science and Technology

Friday 1st March 2019

We are delighted to announce that the first training programme delivered by ALS's internal Training Academy at Chatteris in Cambridgeshire has been validated by the Institute of Science and Technology.

The Training Academy was set up 2 years as part of a long-term commitment by the company to train and develop its own staff and provide an exciting and informative introduction for new starters working in a busy microbiology laboratory. Training is provided by a dedicated full-time team of trainers - Alexandra Marsden and Nigel Poulton - and gives each attendee the chance to learn about the key aspects of microbiological analysis in a fully equipped laboratory environment - but one that is separate form the main laboratory used by ALS clients.

Commenting on the validation, Alex said "we are extremely proud to have our Academy recognised by a well respected trade body such as the IST. It is a great accolade to receive and one which reflects ALS's investment in attracting and developing the best talent within the industry."

Since its launch, scores of staff have passed through its doors. Indeed, such has the been the success of the scheme that a second Training Academy is to be opened in March at ALS' site in Rotherham in South Yorkshire. The Rotherham Academy will provide training for staff joining ALS's northern sites in Carlisle, Mirfield and Rotherham whilst the Chatteris site will provide training for staff joining sites in Sittingbourne, Trowbridge, Shrewsbury and Chatteris.
