ALS Food & Pharmaceutical is pleased to announce, that following the completion of validation projects, we are now able to offer a new accredited method for above in Fruit and Vegetables.
This testing was previously available unaccredited. New extraction and analysis technique have allowed to gain lower reporting limits than the previous method and the reporting limit is as follows.
Maleic Hydrazide 0.2 mg/kg
Maleic hydrazide is a plant growth regulator that reduces growth of the plant it has been applied to. It is applied to crops such as potatoes, carrots, and onions. With non-approval of chlorpropham (CIPC), maleic is used more and more to prevent sprouting during storage. Maleic hydrazide is regulated, by means of maximum residue levels (MRLs), to ensure the correct use and minimal consumer exposure.
Our, now accredited, method has been utilised by supermarkets as well as many suppliers to check compliance against GB regulations. Some examples of products we have routinely been testing are:
- Potatoes
- Onions
- Garlic
- Carrots
This is not an exhausted list of capabilities, if you wish to discuss the methodology, or have any queries regarding this test, please do not hesitate to contact our Client Services Team on 01354 697 028 or email us at [email protected]
