As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are pleased to confirm that we can now offer a UKAS accredited and RSA scheme approved Listeria spp confirmation to species level via MALDI-TOF at our Trowbridge laboratory.
Currently any presumptive Listeria tested at the Trowbridge laboratory are isolated and sent to our sister site in Chatteris for identification. Bringing this method in-house to Trowbridge reduces the time spent in transit and further handling of the sample.
The Bruker MALDI-TOF Biotyper has been validated against the ISO confirmation procedures in accordance with DIS/ISO 16140-6 and as such can be used for the confirmation of samples submitted for analysis to meet both Tesco and M&S specifications in accordance with the requirements of the RSA scheme.
The MALDI-TOF Biotyper is able to identify a wide range of organisms and we are working towards adding more of these to our scope of accreditation (although in the meantime we can offer identification of some organisms on an unaccredited basis).
