ALS European expansion continues with new site in Italy

Wednesday 22nd March 2017

We are delighted to announce that as part of the continued growth strategy for the Life Sciences division, ALS has completed the acquisition of Leochimica SRL located in Zoppola in north east Italy.

Leochimica was founded in 1985 and operates an equal mix of food and environmental testing with a team of over 60 staff. It is widely recognised as a high technology, high quality laboratory and is therefore a great cultural fit for ALS. The team at Leochimica provide a full range of services to food growers, processors, distributors and retailers as well as environmental analysis and technical training.

Italy is the 4th largest economy in Europe and having an analytical hub laboratory well placed in the north east of the country will enable ALS to develop its 'hub and spoke' model across the whole of northern Italy. To further support this growing organisation, the plan is to develop a number of spokes in the region through greenfield development and smaller acquisitions.

The senior management team at Leochimica are remaining with ALS and are excited by the development opportunities that ALS can offer.

The acquisition increases the total number of ALS staff working across all Life Sciences businesse in Europe to over 3,000.
