Our dedicated transport team is an integral part of ALS’s Client Services Team and together they work hard to provide an outstanding collection service across the UK & Ireland.
The UK team is managed by our 4 experienced Regional Transport Managers who work closely with individual laboratories to deliver a friendly and flexible collection service.

We understand that our drivers are key ambassadors for ALS and for some clients they represent the primary point of contact. Consequently, we go to great lengths to ensure that all of our drivers are courteous and helpful and respond promptly and considerately to the changing needs of our clients.
We set high standards in terms of appearance and issue every driver with a smart ALS uniform.
All drivers are fully trained when they join ALS and complete a series of daily checks on their vehicle and on their traceability paperwork to ensure that samples arrive back with us safely.
Our modern vehicle fleet comprises of around 85 refrigerated vans, all of which are serviced in line with manufacturer guidelines and replaced on a regular basis.
Every vehicle undergoes a rigorous swabbing programme to ensure that they are cleaned to an exceptional standard to provide a safe and hygienic environment in which to transport your samples.
All UK vans are fitted with Oceasoft temperature loggers which work with the driver’s smartphone. Data is collected wirelessly via Bluetooth and the data forwarded to the cloud. This allows us to access real time temperature information and download PDF reports in only a few clicks.
In September 2019, we signed up to use Teletrac Navman’s Director system to track our vans. This solution provides us with a fast efficient, real-time and historic GPS information. At any point we can locate our vehicles and see where they have been thus helping us to provide an efficient and reliable collection service. The system provides an array of management tools and reports which helps utilise the fleet in the most efficient manner to meet both our client’s requirements and ALS’s goals on sustainability and Health and Safety.
In addition to the standard system, we have also invested in the Teletrac Navman ‘Driver ID’ solution which allows us to promote and monitor each driver in a single platform. This has helped us develop our fleet driver safety program to measure risk and communicate safe driving principles which meet the ALS core values. Overall, this tool helps us to accurately manage and produce courteous and professional drivers who are proud to represent the ALS brand.
