ALS launches new extended pesticide testing screen

Wednesday 29th July 2015

ALS is pleased to announce that it has launched one of the most comprehensive pesticide residue testing screens in the UK.

The new extended LC-MS/MS screen now includes 346 compounds (254 of which are accredited) with a 0.01mg/kg Reporting Limit. The new LC-MS/MS screen accreditation covers food (bakery, confectionery, fruit & vegetables, cereal (grain, seeds & pulses)) and Animal Feed (compounded feeds).

In addition, the GC-MS fruit & vegetables screen includes 152 compounds (150 of which are accredited), thereby providing ALS clients with a 498 multi-residue screen (although there are some compounds which exist in both screens).

ALS has established a 'Centre of Excellence' for pesticide residue testing at its main UK laboratory in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. Indeed, it now operates as a major European hub for pesticide residue analysis with samples couriered from clients all over Europe.

Commenting, ALS Laboratory Manager Mike Housden states, "We have been working towards this objective for many months and are delighted that we are now in a position to offer clients one of the comprehensive pesticide testing screens in the UK. Pesticide analysis has long been a core competency for ALS and we pride ourselves on the quality of our service which is delivered by one of the most experienced team of analysts in the industry."
