ALS Sittingbourne Microbiology Workshop a great success

ALS' Sittingbourne laboratory once again played host to another successful Microbiology Workshop on 20th November.

Among the many attendees at the sold out event were food manufacturers and processors representing a broad range of categories including salad producers, ready meals manufacturers, ethnic foods suppliers, pizza manufacturers and bakery.

The agenda included a number of keynote presentations from ALS Company Microbiologist Andy Muirhead, and covered topics such as 'Factors which affect the growth of microorganisms' and 'Key Indicator Organisms and Pathogens'. General Manager Adrian Goldsmith hosted a discussion on Water Microbiology and Andy Muirhead maanged practical session on the importance of the sampling techniques and the use of consumables.

Proceedings finished with a tour of Sittingbourne's impressive facilties on the Kent Science Park and an opportunity to meet the team of analysts that carry out the testing 7 days a week.
