ALS Trowbridge accredited for Legionella testing

We are pleased to confirm that following successful validation work, our laboratory in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, is now accredited for Legionella testing.

ALS has previously only offered this accredited test at its Sittingbourne laboratory but is now able to provide a more accesible service to clients in the south west following this extension to scope.

Testing is carried out by membrane filtration using a litre sample and can be reported to a detection limit of 20cfu in the volume tested (this is the recommended limit of detection for healthcare samples).

The incubation time for the test is 10 days and results are reported as counts of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1, Legionella pneumophila serogroups 2-15, Legionella species and total Legionella in the volume tested.
