We are delighted to announce that ALS enjoyed a trio of successes at the 2014 Fenland Enterprise Business Awards held at the Braza Club in March.
ALS won the 'Green Award' and the 'Medium Business of the Year' award before picking up the prestigious overall 'Business of the Year' award for its industry-leading technical expertise, impressive growth and commitment to environmentally-friendly technologies.
The award judges commented that “The team at ALS delivered a very professional and convincing case, admirably demonstrating that the business is financially sound and has grown and adapted to a changing market place.
“In particular it extended its range of allergen tests for meat speciation testing – a key development following the horse meat crisis in 2013 and developed an industry leading web based portal ensuring ALS is well positioned in a competitive, high tech market.
“Adopting a range of initiatives including heat recovery, large scale rain water harvesting and waste streaming, ALS provided a strong case by demonstrating a measured commitment to environmental awareness using available technology to the benefit of the business and carbon reduction.”
The ALS laboratory at Chatteris in Cambridgeshire is the largest of the company's 6 UK sites. Adam Rush, General Manager of the site, said "We are extremely proud that ALS has been recognised in this way. The past year has been a very busy one for all our staff and I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded. We opened a major laboratory extension in April which gives us additional capacity and makes the site one of the biggest in the UK. We have also expanded the range of testing we carry out on site so that Chatteris is now a hub for testing not just in the UK but for Europe as well."
