Ely official 'Open Day' a huge success

Thursday 6th October 2016

Mayor of Ely, Cllr Ian Lindsay, was the guest of honour as ALS proudly unveiled its new £2.1m laboratory extension at Ely on 7th September.

The Open Day attracted over 70 clients and suppliers from all over the country including many of the UK's leading generics manufacturers.

Cllr Lindsay was assisted by laboratory technician Dan Tuck, who won an internal competition to help open the extension. Also in attendance were Sharon Hanly, the site's General Manager; Sales & Marketing Director, Nigel Richards and ALS’s European General Manager, Andreas Johnson (pictured below, left), who flew in from Stockholm for the occasion.

After welcoming speeches and the official ribbon cutting, the invited guests were given an opportunity to tour the new facilities and meet the team of expert analysts responsible for carrying out the pharmaceutical testing. There were also a series of themed seminars and Q&A sessions focussing on microbiological testing, chemistry testing and the role of the Quality team at Ely.

The expansion of the Ely site comes after 5 years of double digit revenue growth and forms part of ALS's long-term strategy to firmly establish itself as a leader within the UK pharmaceutical testing industry. The 5,941 sq ft of additional floor space has provided a four-fold increase in the amount of space devoted to microbiological analysis and a doubling of space for chemical analysis, all of which is great news for the pharmaceutical sales team who have already signed up several new clients after the Open Day.
