EXTENDED CONTAMINANTS UKAS ACCREDITATION – CHLORATE AND PERCHLORATE

Monday 20th February 2023

ALS is pleased to announce that following the successful UKAS submission, our in-house Chlorate and Perchlorate method is now accredited in all food and food products.

Chlorate has in the past been treated as a pesticide residue rather than a food contaminant. Chlorate is formed as a by-product when using chlorine, chlorine dioxide or hypochlorite for food production. The main purpose of its use nowadays is for disinfection and it is an essential tool to maintain high standards of food safety.

Validation has been completed on all SANTE commodity groups; we are able to claim accreditation on any food raw material as well as the final products. The limit of detection will be sufficient to meet all current GB and EU regulations. Some examples of products we routinely test are:

  • Vegetables
  • Salads
  • Fruit juices
  • Ready meals
  • Spices
  • Meat
  • Dairy products

If you wish to discuss the methodology, or have any queries regarding this test, please contact our Client Services Team at Chatteris at [email protected] or on 01354 697 028.
